Title: 21st Birthday
A/N: Hunter is about to celebrate his 21st Birthday. Written for the prompt 'Drink' at fanfic100 and the prompt 'Birthday' at 25fluffyfics
Michael put the last of the twenty one candles on the cake as Ben walked up behind him, wrapping his arms around his waist and dropping a kiss on the top of his head.
Michael turned in his arms and looked up at him
“I can’t believe he’s twenty one” Michael said, an amazed look on his face. “It seems only yesterday that we found him asleep on the steps at our apartment.”
“I know.” Ben replied, looking around the room. They had spent the day decorating it and every space was covered with streamers and balloons.
Hunter had grouched about being twenty one not fucking twelve since he got up but they knew he was secretly delighted that they were making a fuss of him.
He had been dropping not so subtle hints for months about the presents he wanted and between them they had talked to everyone to make sure he got what he wanted.
“Do you think he’s happy?” Michael asked, fiddling with the candles.
Ben reached down pulling Michael’s hands into his.
“Why wouldn’t he be?” Ben asked surprised at Michael’s question.
“I don’t know.” Michael shook his head. “Just a feeling I get sometimes.”
”He’s still young Michael.” Ben responded, pulling Michael over to the sofa and sitting him down before joining him. “He’s still searching for what he wants to do with his life, and also finding himself.”
”How did you get so wise?” Michael said as he climbed onto Ben’s lap, finding his mouth and kissing him deeply.
“Geeezzzzz….take it to the bedroom won’t you!” Hunter said, walking into the room.
Michael jumped up and walked over to where Hunter was standing, smacking his hands away from the cake.
Ben laughed and joined them, draping a arm over the shoulders of his husband and son.
“So you going to make a wish when you blow out the candles?” Michael asked.
“What do I look like five?” Hunter snapped.
“Don’t be a smartass!” Michael replied. “And you have to make a wish; there must be something you want!”
Hunter looked at his father’s and shook his head.
“I kinda have what I want.” Hunter replied, a small smile crossing his lips as he walked from the room knowing that his father’s would get all soppy and sentimental tonight but somehow he didn’t really mind. What he told them was true, he did have all he ever wanted, a home and two parents who loved him unconditionally.
